You can return to the Filter menu later, to add or undo options, even after you have applied a Look to your image. There are many, many choices and options here, so take your time and experiment. Once basic edits have been made, scroll down to the Creative and Stylistic headings and experiment with different combinations. Select and perform your choice of editing operations, or skip altogether.Ĭlick anywhere on the image to toggle back to see the Original. In the Studio2 interface, click the Add Filter box (top right) and scroll down to Essential. Processing speed correlates directly to file size with small files you can zip through more choices quickly.Īfter creating a new Layer, edit the image in Photoshop (or Lightroom) if desired and then select Topaz Studio 2 from the Filters drop-down menu. In the beginning, when you’re itching to try all of the new options, start with a fairly low resolution image. Open an image using your favorite image browser. The software functions as a plug-in for Adobe products and can also be used as a standalone application. Over and over again.Īll edits are nondestructive (Studio 2 even warns if you lazily forgot to create a duplicate layer to manipulate) and you do not have to create a catalog or redundant copy of your image files.īefore we get started, download Studio 2 from Topaz Labs website. In addition to applying Preset Looks, you can perform traditional and advanced image editing operations (Sharpen, HSL Color Tuning, Curves, etc.) and/or apply any of several creative Filters. Topaz calls the various preset filter effects “Looks” so that’s the language we’re using. Plus you can create and save your own Looks, which is what we’re doing today. Topaz Studio 2 provides dozens and dozens (I lost count) of Preset Looks that can be adjusted, combined and repeated. It’s been a very long time since I’ve been this excited about a software application. Topaz Studio 2 offers so many possibilities, you’ll never run out of creative options. Each Look functions as a customized filter for Photoshop within the Studio 2 plug-in. Experiment, build, adjust, edit and create your own personalized “Looks” for your photos, and save them for future use. close it, rerun the appropriate on-line installer dmg which I have saved in my downloads folder, let it delete the old version and install the new one.Topaz Studio 2 provides the most creative fun you can have editing digital images for under $100, hands down. I ignore the request for my email address at the end and after closing and switching back to my standard use account, Topaz works fine and knows I am registered. close it, switch to my admin user account, and then update the software. from within Topaz App, I get the macOS prompt to authenticate with my admin user name and password, and somewhere in the download and install process I get a corruption error for the original installation (I think). If I try to update Topaz Studio 3, Sharpen AI, Denoise AI, etc. In my case, I normally run my iMac from a normal (non administrator) account. I am not sure if you are seeing the corruption error for the downloaded file or with the attempted upgrade. If you don't like a negative view I suggest you skip my posts. Me? I'm waiting until the software is user friendly. So the message to the OP is to either take a step back until Topaz gets the bugs sorted or ride along bugs and all until it is working. The simple fact that I'm trying to point out to the OP is that Topaz routinely releases software that isn't ready for the market. I point out a fact and you get all defensive with a personal attack that doesn't help anyone. This is how discussions go when someone is blinded by there own opinions. Good to know, but your opinion on the matter adds zero value to solving the OP's issue. If that's not your thing nothing wrong with that, but you really don't need to repeat your critique like a broken record every time there is a TS2 thread.įor the time being I'll be sticking with Studio. This may take a while and Mac users seem to have more issues than Windows users. If judged by the activity on the FB and forum pages there are probably hundreds, if not substantially more, users actively using the product while it matures. On the flip-side they have released updates on a weekly, and sometimes daily, basis (a new one last night along with new bugs). Features may be on the way but releasing it as a bare bones tool isn't what I would call smart marketing. Has more problems IMHO and seems a very limited piece of software at the moment.
